The older man, standing in front of a thick metal table, stopped hammering and looked up at you with his dirt covered face. He whipped his forearm against his forehead.
"What can I do for you?" He asked, his voice raspy and gruff.

Ethela stood infront of the blacksmith, tilting her head. "I want to be strong like captain... so could I have a sword please?" she said, already fumbling around for the money sack Ama had given her.

Jace passed by Ethela and waved. "Why hello there Ethela, what are you doing here?"

Alice was walking past the blacksmith when she heard Ethela ask for a sword. "Eep!" The blacksmith laughed at Ethela. "A small girl like you?Hahaha!"

"Hello Mr Ja--" she paused when she heard the man laughing at her. "I-I wanna be strong like my Captain!" she pouted. She then turned to Jace and saluted. "Hello again, Mr Jace." she said again, being more formal this time.

He studied her, and grin grew bigger. "Weilding a sword does not make one strong, it is the power to protect someone precious to you. Or some other sappy line that goes with that." Jace looked at the blacksmith and looked at her again.
" I would say you are capable to weild a Cutlass. Why don't you show her a example of one sir."

The blacksmith grumbled and then pulled out a cutlass. "That's for someone else, but you may look at it." Alice watched carefully, waiting to see if she needed to step in and help Ethela out.

She tilted her head for a moment, realizing that besides Alice, she had nobody that she could protect, and she could barely protect Alice. Everyone could fight for themselves. She nodded at Jace's words. Her eyes widened with wonder as the Blacksmith brought out the sword he had requested.
"Wow..." she murmured, reaching out to touch it.

"Only tough the hilt." the blacksmith said placing the hilt into Ethela's hand.

Jace smiled, it fit Ethela perfectly. "Do you want that?" He asked her, bending down a little to her height.

Jace ooked over at the blacksmith then back at her, "I bet this man will teach you how to make one and when you do, than it will be truly yours."

"Look here. I don't have to time to teach anyone anything, not if you're willing to pay a hefty price." Alice watched them. She would be jealous if Ethela got to make her own sword. Ethela got everything..... All Alice wanted was to protect Ethela and to do that she needed a sword, but of course Alice was broke.

She sighed and hung her head down. Of course she didnt have much money on her. "I.. guess I'll take a regular one then." she said.

Jace pulled out his wallet, he made a lot of money off of mapmaking. And smiled at Alice. "You look like a little puppy, do you want one also? I don't mind, I like serving girls in any way I can."
